What’s that?

February 3rd, 2008 Posted in Featured, My Photos

The following shot was taken from the deck of our neighbor’s townhouse at around midnight last night. My girlfriend and I had just come back home from a cruise on the Potomac River for a friend’s birthday. As we neared our neighborhood, we noticed that a large spotlight was sweeping the sky from within a couple miles of our house. I quickly set up my tripod, set the camera for Tungsten white balance (to accent the blue light and offset the street and house lights), and captured the following 25 second exposure:

Blue Cone of Light

I’m sure glad I picked blue for the February photo challenge

Awesome ! could also fit Neil’s “view from below” project

I think the camera has to be lower than 30cm to the ground but this shot was down from a tripod on a deck.

I do really like Neil Creek’s “View From Below” project, though. Thanks for the reminder!
