Verdict on photophlow: phantastic!
If you’d like an invite, please read to the bottom of the article and leave a comment…
Yesterday, I wrote about a new web app called photophlow that intends to take the social nature of Flickr to the next level.
Last night, I received an invite to check it out. So far, the site delivers as promised. When you log in, you’ll be taken to the anteroom, pictured below. Click on the image for a full-size version.

From the anteroom, you can see the most recent photophlow news, a link to your room, and links to all your contacts’ rooms. On the right, you’ll see a list of the most active rooms; stopping by the photophlow welcome room is a must. They’re always seems to be a few people in there, including photophlow reps who I am sure will be ready to answer your questions. Finally, below the most active rooms, you’ll see rooms for all the groups you belong to. I think this will be huge. One of the best things about Flickr are the thousands of photo groups, at least one for every topic or photo object you can think of. The ability to interact with other group members in real-time will be invaluable… and probably completely addictive!
Now, let’s take a look at my room:
Click on the image for a full-size version.

In my room, the main area is the chat window where I can chat with all my contacts and visitors. On the right, is a “featured” image that, in most cases, can be set by anyone in the room. Under that image, you’ll be able to enlarge it, comment on it, view it on Flickr, or see the photo EXIF data.
On the left, where my photo is, is where you’ll be able to see the avatars of everyone who is currently in the room. To the left of that, will be your search results. You can access a ton of photos just from the drop-down menu:

Pretty cool stuff.
I’m still learning more about the site and all the functions that are available to me… It looks like I’ve only barely penetrated the surface.
So, instead of me trying to review every single bell and whistle, why don’t you check it out for yourself!
I was granted three invites when I first joined the site, which I’ve already given out to some photographer friends and blogs that I read often. However, Neil from photophlow was nice enough to set me up with five more.
So, if you’d like an invite to photophlow, leave a comment below and I’ll send one your way! Please only request one if you plan on really taking a look at the site and are pretty interested in photography.
UPDATE: Antoine from All Day I Dream About Photography has offered one more invite to one of my readers… That makes a total of six available invites! Leave a comment below for yours! Oh, and be sure to check out and subscribe to Antoine’s site! It’s quickly becoming one of my must-read sites!
Once you’ve joined, feel free to drop by my room and say Hi:
Obviously, I have a day job so I may not be there… but come back and visit often and I’m sure you’ll run into me!

STAY AWAY FROM PHOTOPHLOW !!!
it is addictive
Hahaha… Yeah I can tell already!
Thanks!
This sounds dangerously addictive!!! I think I can handle the risk :o)
If you still have a spare account I´d appreciate it.
Thaks!
Thanks! It is! I’ll be sending your invite momentarily!
Only five left!
Thanks shawn. Got it.
For some reason it stays stuck when loading my room. It may be my browser. Will try to fix it.
Cheers.
Odd. I didn’t have any problem… I am using the latest Firefox on WinXP and on a Mac.
Make sure you don’t have any weird plugins or controls restricting Javascript. It appears to be a very JS-intensive site.
Well worth it once you’re in though.
Good luck! Hope to see you there!
I just found your site and am keen to join. I am sorry I missed out on the photowalk. This is something I really want to do in the DC area. I live out in Reston.
I would like an invite to your photophlow group if you still have invites. Thanks
Thanks for the comment Beau! I have sent you an invite… Let me know if you have any trouble!
