Flickr Group - Photo(s) of the Week(s)

Since I missed posting a new group photo last week due to my vacation in Paris, I’ve decided to select two photos for this week’s edition.

The first photo is untitled and is from Flickr user näyrde von g. It is an excellent long exposure night shot of a snowy forest scene. What really makes the photo is the slightly ghosted image of the people walking through the trees. Be sure to check out näyrde von g’s Flickr stream and website. Nice work!

The next selection comes from Flickr user kajatl and is an action shot of a woman belly-dancing. There’s something about the photo, perhaps the color of the lighting and pose of the woman, that almost makes you feel the warmth of the scene and makes you feel as if you are there.

Flickr Group - Photo of the Week

Our Flickr group photo of the week comes from Flickr user ApertureImage.com. It’s a very dramatic black and white photo of an airplane towing a glider over the Isle of Wight. If you look very closely, you’ll see the towline. Excellent image that works perfectly in black and white.

Flickr Group - Photo of the Week

Our Flickr group photo of the week actually comes from an old acquaintance of mine that I recently reconnected with. Flickr user cjrodkey gives us the following shot of a church silhouette at sunset. The sun is in a great position right behind the church, adding to the silhouette and giving some great orange tones in the sky. I liked the composition, too, of having the church at the bottom of the frame thereby giving us a broad colorful shot of the sky. Nice work!

Flickr Group - Photo of the Week

This week’s photo of the week was one I found while browsing through Flickr and it managed to hold off all of the impressive competition as far as I’m concerned. The title of the photo is A Price Above Rubies and was taken by Ar’alani. I’m a sucker for “slow shutter, water running over rocks” photos and this one is truly one of the best I’ve seen:

Flickr Group - Photo of the Week

It’s that time again! As I mentioned last week, selecting the best photo in the pool is becoming increasingly difficult. There is some really incredible work in there. That being said, this week’s winner is “Pool at the Sheraton” from Flickr user spinfly. I’ve been a fan of spinfly’s HDR work for some time and the photo below definitely doesn’t disappoint…

Picking this week’s “Let’s Quit Our Day Jobs” was extremely difficult. Some of the group’s members have been submitting some outstanding photos to the group. That being said, I wanted to feature the photo that really stuck with me ever since I first saw it. The photo comes from photographer Chris Arace. Some of you may remember Chris as this site’s first featured photographer. I’m sure you’ll agree that the photo below very much deserves the Photo of the Week title:

Flickr Group - Photo of the Week

So, as you may have noticed, there hasn’t been a “Photo of the Day” in a while… This is primarily for two reasons:

1) Our group is still small and I haven’t had the time to really go out and promote it and get new photos in…
2) And, yeah, I’ve been busy… Didn’t I already mention that?

So anyway, I’ll be doing a “Photo of the Week” where I’ll be featuring a photo that has been added to our group pool within the last 7 days.

For the first “Photo of the Week”, I wanted to feature the photo “Numb” by Flickr user Lacking Focus. I immediately loved this photo when I first saw it… Never before have I seen so much emotion captured in a statue. Nice work! Be sure to check out the rest of his photos here.

Today’s image comes from Beau Harbin. It is an excellent capture of a single rose at the Korean War Veterans Memorial. I think a lot of people, including myself, would have missed this shot. Nice work Beau!
